Challenge Cup 2008.
The tournament will be interesting because the places
in
BEST in CROATIA will be finally known; who will end as
second between Marko Curkovic and Vjekoslav Kufrin, who is slightly
better positioned before the last tournament. Kristijan Curkovic
is the almost certian winner this year also.
The torunament will be also counted for the SLO-CRO
Intercup where the winner is still not known. The fight
will be between Bernard Rjavec and Uros Matanovic. The interesting
thing is who will be among the first three places, and good chances
for that have four players. Besides the two mentioned, there are
also Kristijan Curkovic and Nejc Skrlep. The tournament is the second
last tournament in Slovenian cup, so a lot of interesting matches
are expected.

Sevnica 2008
The third in a row Slo-Cro Intercup tournament was
won by a young Slovenian player Uros Matanovic, while Bernard Rjavec
took the second place and thus established the leading position
in the series.
The third Vjekoslav Kufrin was the best of five Croatian
players who participated on the tournament greatly organized by
the Društvo Salezijanski mladinski Center Sevnica sponsored by "Kolesarski
center Sevnica", the importers of Stiga hockey in Slovenia.
The best Croat, Kristijan Curkovic, didn't manage
to get into the fight for a medal after the great game in the league;
he lost to the young Anze Bozic and with this lost his chance for
the overall victory, but he could still be the second or the third.
We are waiting for the final tournament on May 4,
2008 in Zagreb with graet anticipation.

These two tournaments have opened the Sportmaster

SLO-CRO Intercup. Bjarne
Axelsen, the last year winner, currently leads in the Sportmaster
Series. In Croatia there are no changes on the top, but things have
become complicated around the 2nd place (The
best in Croatia).

Kranj Open 2007
The first appearance of SHK Kit on a club tournament ended with
the good second place. On the first was the host team Kranj 1, and
on the third ended the favourized Menges.
The last was the Kranj team 2.
In the individual competition the favourite ones were a disappointment,
and the one who surprised us all was Vjekoslav who ended on the
excellent fifth place.

Good results
|
(Winter
cup in Menges)
On the last three international tournaments
good results for Croats. On Winter Cup in Slovenia held on
10 February 2007, M. Curkovic took the 7th place.
|
(Croats
are warming up in Budapest)
K. Curkovic was a sensation in Budapest on
a tournament in February, 25th, but, unfortunately, he lost
a game by sudden death against one of the best Slovenian
players J.Skrlep, and he couldn't make it among the best
16, but the 23. place is a fairly good result.
With quite a good placement in Bratislava
a day before for both players, it makes a significant step
ahead on the world ranking list.
|
(Speed
is virtue in table hockey) |
A third player V. Kufrin didn't make any significant results, but
he managed to change his ranking position well ahead so he also
did well in both tournaments.
The eighth Podsused Challenger took place, on which Kristijan took
the leadership from Marko in Croatia by winning the first place.

The tournament in a Climbers' Lodge "Japetić"
was also held. There were no greater surprises, and the winner was
Kristijan ahead of Marko and Vjekoslav; Goran was the fourth who
managed to win over the veteran rival Zoran. The season in Croatia
is on its peak, and the situation has not cleared yet. The best
position hold Kristijan and Bernard, although both Marko and Vjekoslav
lead at the moment. To be continued...

Points for Croatia on St. Nicola's tournament!
On 09th December 2006 another Slovenia championship tournament
in table hockey was held. There were thirty players from Slovenia
and Croatia and the winner was Jaka Skrlep. The Second place was
taken by Bernard Rjavec, while Nejc Škrlep, who beat a club colleague
Bernard Skrlep, was the third.
The most interesting event was the semifinals where B. Rjavec won
over B. Škrlep with sudden death 3:2 and thus went to the finals.
The results are on:NHZS
Croatia, with M.Curkovic on the 7th and V.Kufrin on the 11th position,
will gain enough points to get among the group of countries with
more than 1000 points on the world ranking list.Table
hockey ranking - national teams
The third member of SHK Kit zoran Miric was placed on the 15th
position, and we soon expect him among the first five Croatian players.
He will probably manage to do that the next weekend on Velebit where
he organizes "Velebit Challenger" tournament.
For the first time there was a player from Split on the tournament
- Veselko Jovic. He, actually, played table hockey for the first
time on the tournament, and during the game he was constantly looking
for the right (rod). As was expected, he finished last, but congratulations
on the courage - we hope to find in him a new competitive force
in Croatia.

The first Slovenia Open
The first Slovenia Open in table hockey was held on 11th November
2006 in Kranj. The Hungarian Papp Magor won over the Slovenian Jaka
Skrlep, and the Hungarian B.Nagy won the third place.
The best Croat was Marko Curkovic who ended up on, for him, the
poor 14th place. But the other two Croatian players, V. Kufrin and
Zoran Miric, did very well - the 19th and 31st place.
The tournament marked the beginning of the international tour -
the Sportmaster tour - that consists of five tournaments held in
Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Croatia.
Our, Croatian, tournament will be held on 30th June 2007 and it
will be the closing tournament of the season and the first bigger
table hockey tournament in Croatia.(Sportmaster

Blast from the past
(Old
Stiga from 1980's)
Until now, Croatia has not had any significant results in table
hockey.
But, to this date Croatian players have been to three tournaments
out of the Croatian
borders: Budapest, Hungary; European Championship in Skalica, Slovakia;
and Menges, Slovenia.
You can find more details on
Marko's blog (in Croatian).
In Croatia, two international tournaments were organized.
The first one was in Opatija in 2005, organized by Slovenian and
Danish table hockey players,
but, unfortunately, without Croatian participants; and the second
one was Podsused Challenger No4 that took place in Zagreb in July
2006, with Croatian and Danish participants.
(Results)
The first official tournament with Croatian players organized in
Croatia was Podsused Challenger
NO1, although in the early 1980's there must have been organized
a smaller tournament in
Croatia, played on Stiga Play-off table hockey, but, unfortunately,
we do not have the exact
results.
Besides the Croatian players, there was, a few years earlier, another
Croatian player who played
in Sweden where he probably lives - Patrick Provci.
